Alliance for Multicultural Community Services
Our Mission

AMCS's mission is to provide comprehensive services to refugees, immigrants and low-income residents of Harris County in order to enhance the process of their cultural adjustment and economic self-sufficiency. These services are delivered in a manner that is linguistically and culturally appropriate and are designed to empower individuals, families and communities to succeed. Over the past 25 years, AMCS's programs have included Refugee Employment, Refugee Resettlement, Refugee Case Management, Community Employment and Training, Youth Empowerment Programs, IDA, Micro-enterprise programs Refugee Transportation Program, Immigration Counseling, Interpretation, and Health Education and Advocacy Services to over 90,000 refugees, immigrants and low-income citizens.
Alliance Strategic Vision
Alliance for Multicultural Community Services was founded in July of 1985 through the integration of Cambodian, Ethiopian, Laotian and Vietnamese refugee organizations into a Mutual Assistance Association. Since then, the Alliance has expanded to serve individuals of all ethnicities, both refugees and low-income residents of the Gulfton neighborhood where we are located, providing services to approximately 6,500 clients annually. In spite of the tough economic times which make our refugee self-sufficiency work more difficult, we are working hard to expand our services and to improve our financial and administrative position.
